Day 1 · ▶ 3:025:21
The central question: Who is the Lord that I should obey Him?

The main purpose of the plagues is that we would walk out of this room knowing God more, trusting God more, obeying God more [fully].

📖 Exodus 5:2

Pharaoh asked, 'Who is the [Lord] that I should obey him?'

He's asking it as a [pluralist], saying you've got your God, we've got tons of gods, but why would you insist that I listen to or obey your God?

We're good with your faith as long as you don't think your God can [oversee] my life.

  • In what area of your life are you asking God, 'Why should I obey you in this?' What would it look like to trust Him fully in that area this week?
  • The plagues were God's dramatic answer to Pharaoh's question about His identity. How has God revealed Himself to you in ways that invite you to deeper obedience?
Day 2 · ▶ 13:0015:50
God alone is worthy of your trust

God alone is worthy of your [trust].

The Nile River was the [lifeblood] of Egypt.

If you wanted the Egyptian dream, who would you go to? You'd run after [happy].

The frog in that day was the symbol of [fertility].

  • The Egyptians trusted false gods for provision, fertility, and health. What are you tempted to trust in besides God for your security and happiness?
  • How might God be inviting you to shift your trust from something temporary to His eternal faithfulness?
Day 3 · ▶ 18:0421:33
God goes to war with false gods to prove He is the only true God

God methodically goes to [war] with all the ancient gods of that culture on their own turf.

God sends boils, an epidemic that she who is powerful has no [power] over.

Who's the supreme being of Egypt? Raw, or ray, the God of the [sun].

God shows his power every single one of the plagues or a knockout punch to the [false] gods of Egypt.

  • Each plague was a direct confrontation with a false god. What 'knockout punch' has God delivered in your life to show you He is the only true God?
  • Reflect on a time when something you trusted in failed you. How did that experience drive you back to God?
Day 4 · ▶ 22:0125:18
Modern idols: What false gods are we chasing?
📖 Exodus 9:16

God says, 'For this purpose, I've raised you up to show you my power so that my name may be [proclaimed] in all of the earth.'

God wants the whole world to know that he is the only giver of [life], that he is the only source of security.

My heart constantly is tempted to run back to those things instead of putting my trust in the God that knows me and loves me and has [saved] me.

Some of you are exhausted because you are constantly running after the God of the [American] dream.

  • Look at the list: success, family, health, security, wealth, control. Which of these are you most tempted to trust in instead of God? Why?
  • What would it look like to surrender that idol and place your full trust in God this week?
Day 5 · ▶ 32:0034:13
God's salvation is not based on worthiness but on love

God's mercy and salvation is not based on your [worthiness]. It's based on his love.

Jesus took upon himself all the plagues of [judgment] that we deserve for our sin.

On that moment, on the cross, in the greatest act of love possible, Jesus took upon himself all the plagues of judgment that we deserve for our [sin].

For your [freedom] from the slavery to sin so that you could receive new lives.

  • God spared His people in the midst of judgment—not because they were worthy, but because He loved them. How does this truth reshape the way you view God's love for you?
  • Is there an area where you've been trying to earn God's favor? How can you rest in the truth that His salvation is a gift of love, not a reward for worthiness?
